Covid-19: Andaman and Nicobar Islands suspend tourism activities for 10 days
Port Blair, 16 March: Authorities in Andaman and Nicobar Islands have suspended all tourism activities in the Union Territory from 16 March till 26 March in the wake of coronavirus scare.
In an advisory issued by the Andaman and Nicobar administration, tourists have been advised to refrain from travelling to the islands from 16 March midnight.
The advisory said that "all tourism facilities on the islands such as jetties, beaches, eco-tourism sites and water sports activities shall remain suspended from 16 March to 26 March. All tour operators may appropriately advise their clients so that tourists intending to travel to Andaman and Nicobar Islands are forewarned and advised to refrain from travelling."
The islands are a favourite tourism spot for domestic and international visitors alike.
Till date, 114 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in India. Two of them have since died. (IANS)
